The Role

The Communications & Social Media Coordinator supports clear, engaging and timely communications across the client’s community through the coordination of social media platforms, digital communications and community-facing content. The role has responsibility for the preparation and publication of communications such as client’s weekly, organic social media and our campus development communications. This involves proactively sourcing and developing content that reflects client’s values, voice and progressive identity, and working to a scheduled calendar of communication.

The role also contributes to strategic communication projects, including campus transition communications, through collaboration with stakeholders across the school. The position requires a proactive, organized and relationship-focused approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and support audience engagement across multiple digital channels.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media

  • Coordinate client’s social media platforms, including scheduling and publishing content.
  • Develop engaging and audience-appropriate content across a range of platforms.
  • Monitor and respond to messages, comments and enquiries in a timely and
  • professional manner.
  • Source, prepare and resize imagery and multimedia content for digital platforms.
  • Proactively seek content opportunities across the school community.
  • Undertake social listening and monitor engagement trends and audience feedback.
  • Review competitor and sector activity to identify opportunities, emerging trends and areas for continuous improvement.
  • Support the consistent presentation of client’s brand, tone and visual identity across social media channels.
  • Monitor and report on engagement analytics and identify opportunities to strengthen audience reach and engagement.
  • Maintain awareness of privacy, consent and child safety considerations in digital content and communications.
  • Development and implementation of an annual social media calendar.

Communications

  • Coordinate the preparation and publication of the weekly client’s Weekly newsletter.
  • Liaise with staff and key stakeholders to source and follow up content contributions.
  • Prepare written content, imagery and supporting communications materials.
  • Use Craft CMS to develop, format and publish digital communications.
  • Maintain awareness of activities, events and initiatives occurring across the school to support timely and relevant communications.
  • Build effective working relationships with stakeholders across multiple areas of the school.
  • Ensure communications are accurate, engaging, well-presented and aligned to audience needs and timelines.
  • Support website updates and ensure digital content remains current, accurate and aligned with brand standards.
  • Assist with promotion and coordination of school events, initiatives and community engagement activities.

Project Communications

  • Support communications relating to key strategic projects, including campus transition initiatives.
  • Maintain awareness of project developments, milestones and timelines through ongoing liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including leadership, architects, project managers and building consultants.
  • Implement the School’s two-year communications plan, including developing and delivering key messages to identified audiences at designated times through appropriate communication channels.
  • Assist in developing communications for a range of audiences, including staff, students, families, alumni and the broader community.
  • Coordinate communication timelines, follow-up actions and publication requirements.
  • Prepare digital communications and updates using Craft CMS and other communication platforms.
  • Support the coordination of communication materials and updates across both digital and print platforms.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across a school community.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work proactively.
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms, digital communications and content management systems, preferably Craft CMS or similar platforms.
  • Strong written communication, editing and proofreading skills, with a high level of attention to detail. Ability to adapt writing style to use the brand voice.
  • Demonstrated capability in preparing and publishing digital content, imagery and communication materials.
  • A strong eye for visual presentation, audience engagement and identifying content opportunities.
  • Confidence working across digital platforms and adapting communication styles for different audiences and contexts.
  • A collaborative, adaptable and solutions-focused approach, aligned with client’s values and progressive educational philosophy.
