Employee Spotlight: Gilly

Talent acquisition is more than just filling vacancies. This role is a strategic position that is tasked with finding specialists, leaders, or future executives for a company, focusing on long-term HR planning and selecting the best professionals for specific positions. Gilly, one of Yempo’s Senior Talent Acquisition Specialists, gives us a glimpse of her work experience, values, and aspirations for the future.

Can you describe your role at Yempo?

As Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist, I am tasked to provide clients with quality candidates for their vacancies.

When did you start working at Yempo?

I’ve been with Yempo for 7 months. I started last September 2021.

What can Yempo employees contact you about?

Employees can contact any member of the recruitment team for their concerns or questions regarding referrals and vacancies.

Can you share any latest projects you’re working on in 2022?

As with last year, the team and I are continuously closing vacancies for our clients.

What do you love most about your job?

What I love most about recruitment is the fulfillment whenever I get to close a role. I feel that in my own way, I get to help candidates in finding a job that’s perfect for them.

What are your strongest skills?

Over the years, working in recruitment, I’ve learned to have a lot of patience which I think is one of my best qualities. And being in sports has helped me be a great team player, lending a hand whenever anyone needs it and being flexible as well.

What was a challenge you experienced at Yempo and how was it solved?

My first vacancy (first client as well) at Yempo was particularly hard to fill, but through patience, continuous sourcing, and a little bit of luck, I finally found a great candidate for the role.

What do you like best about Yempo’s culture?

I love that Yempo values their employees, and that work-life balance is really practiced. I also like that everyone is approachable and friendly.

Which core value (commitment, excellence, community) is the most important to you? Why?

Excellence would be most important for me. “Excellence is the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, skillful execution, and the vision to see obstacles as opportunities.” When one strives to be excellent, everything else will follow.

Where do you see your career 5 years from now?

I hope that I am still working in recruitment, maybe leading a small team as well.

Do you have quotes, advice, or mottos that you follow that might inspire other Yempo employees?

One step at a time is all it takes to get you there.
