Growing with Yempo
by Rad Apdal, Process & Automation Manager
I started with Yempo way back in 2017. I was previously a team lead for a web development company in IT Park, Cebu mostly dealing with standard PHP, JS websites, looking for better work-life balance and found an opening for a web developer at Yempo.
I got hired, was assigned to a client, and had to work on Python and Google Cloud Platform tasks, which I had no previous experience with. But I pushed through and was able to make it work, better pay and work-life balance can do wonders for any employee.
At that time, Yempo was relatively small with a few desks and a cute pantry, but it was cozy and the vibe was fun. Everybody knows everybody. HR was super active with monthly activities and people were very willing to participate.
Then, we transferred to a bigger office with more staff, and the pandemic hit. Working remotely has been extremely rewarding for me, but I do miss the coziness and vibe we had at that small office.
“Quite a ride”
I have had quite a ride with Yempo.
If you look at my employee record, I have had 15 role changes. I’ve been with the company for 8 years now, but it doesn’t really feel like it. I was with a client for around one year at the start, then when the work dried up with that client, Yempo found me a new role and I was transferred to a different client for about 3 years. Later, I moved to Yempo Administration for my current stint.
I’ve experienced lots of growth and career development, from being a developer, to a team lead, to developing a new department from scratch. I’ve been a huge proponent of agility and continuous improvement for my entire career and it’s why I was able to pivot with the demands of the company and the industry. I owe thanks to Yempo for giving me the platform to keep pivoting and advancing and for trusting me to make the right decisions.
Yempo, AI, and keeping with the times
These days, I’m driving a considerable Process Automation program of work for Yempo that leverages all the latest technologies. I work hand in hand with each Yempo department looking for improvement opportunities and ways to capitalize on technology to move the company forward and provide better service to our employees and clients. From my perspective as someone who tries to be on top of tech trends while also looking at our competitor’s technological advantages, Yempo is primed to go toe-to-toe with top offshoring companies here in the Philippines. With this tide of automation and AI, we are very well-positioned, and the company has given my team sufficient support to ride this wave and keep up.
I hope that Yempo continues to keep its eyes forward and its feet on the ground. We have a solid foundation set up here that other companies could not match, and I fully trust in our outlook for the future.
