Your Responsibilities:
The Senior Data Engineer will support the development and modernization of the client’s enterprise data platform, with a core focus on accelerating our adoption of Microsoft Fabric. A priority responsibility for this role will be the integration of IRESS Xplan into Microsoft Fabric, enabling scalable data flows, improved reporting capability, and reusable data assets to support business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data ingestion and transformation pipelines within Microsoft Fabric.
- Develop reusable patterns and data models aligned to Medallion Architecture standards.
- Integrate data from IRESS Xplan and other enterprise systems into Fabric with reliability and scale in mind.
- Ensure data pipelines meet quality, documentation, monitoring, and traceability requirements.
- Optimize performance, storage, and cost efficiency across data workloads.
- Collaborate with onshore architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Maintain operational support of pipelines including troubleshooting, incident response, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to internal knowledge of repositories, technical standards, and platform maturity uplift.
Your Background:
- 5+ years’ experience in Data Engineering or related discipline.
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Certifications in Azure, Fabric, or Data Engineering disciplines will be advantageous, though experience may be considered in lieu of formal certification where depth is demonstrated.
- Hands-on proficiency in PySpark, SQL, and PowerShell for data pipeline development.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric components (Lakehouse, Pipelines, Warehouse, Notebooks).
- Experience implementing ETL/ELT frameworks and maintaining production pipelines.
- Understanding and application of Medallion Architecture patterns.
- Experience delivering outcomes in a remote/virtual working environment.
Nice to Have/Preferred Skills:
- Exposure to IRESS Xplan or similar financial advice platforms.
- Experience with Azure Data Services (ADLS, Data Factory, Databricks).
- Experience working with Australian or financial services market stakeholders.
- Familiarity with data governance, security controls, and structured documentation standard
- Certifications in Azure, Fabric, or Data Engineering disciplines
